Bangladesh's national, bank-backed venture platform.

Bangladesh Startup Investment Company PLC (BSIC) is the country's national venture investment platform. Its inaugural vehicle — ONKUR, Bangladesh Fund I — is a USD 35 million pool of institutional capital from 39 commercial banks, launched in May 2026.

BSIC operates as a commercially governed investment institution with an independent Investment Committee, deploying alongside global venture capital firms into Bangladesh's most ambitious startups.

Real responsibility from day one.

Analysts at BSIC are expected to contribute from day one. You will work across live deals: screening companies, building financial models, researching markets, and supporting due diligence from first conversation through to IC. You will work closely with the Investment Associate with direct exposure to the CIO and the full investment process.

This is not a training role. BSIC is a lean team operating at institutional pace, and the Analyst is expected to bring the analytical rigour, commercial judgement, and work ethic to hold their own without hand-holding. If you have 2 to 4 years of relevant experience and are serious about venture capital, this is where that career accelerates.

Scope of the work.

01 — Deal Screening & Pipeline
  • Review inbound deal flow and conduct first-pass screening against BSIC's investment criteria — stage, sector, market size, and team quality.
  • Prepare concise screening notes and investment summaries that give the Associate a clear basis for next-step decisions.
  • Maintain and update the CRM — log every interaction, track pipeline status, and ensure the team has full visibility of active conversations.
  • Map the startup landscape across BSIC's focus sectors.
02 — Research & Market Analysis
  • Conduct deep-dive sector research to support investment theses — market sizing, competitive dynamics, regulatory landscape, demand drivers.
  • Build TAM/SAM/SOM analyses anchored in primary and secondary data, not just top-down assumptions.
  • Track global and regional VC activity in BSIC's focus areas — deal flow, valuations, emerging models, investor theses — and synthesise findings for the team.
  • Produce research notes and market maps that sharpen BSIC's view of where the best opportunities are emerging.
03 — Financial Modelling
  • Build and maintain financial models — revenue projections, unit economics, cost structures, and valuation analyses — under the guidance of the Associate.
  • Stress-test assumptions and run scenario analyses to pressure-test investment cases before IC.
  • Support benchmarking work — comparable company analysis, funding round data, and valuation multiples across relevant sectors and geographies.
04 — Due Diligence Support
  • Assist with the full due diligence process — coordinate data room access, track open items, ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Conduct reference checks, customer interviews, and background research on founding teams.
  • Contribute to investment memo drafting — sections on market, competition, financials, and risk — under the direction of the Associate.
05 — Ecosystem & Portfolio
  • Support ecosystem-building activities — research on accelerators, university programmes, and founder communities that can strengthen BSIC's deal flow and network.
  • Assist with portfolio monitoring — tracking KPIs, preparing performance updates, and flagging material developments to the Associate.
  • Help organise BSIC's presence at ecosystem events, demo days, and founder forums.
06 — Growth Path
  • Direct exposure to the IC process and structured mentorship from the Associate and CIO.
  • Strong performance is the clearest path to the Associate role — and the beginning of a career in venture capital that is hard to replicate elsewhere in Bangladesh.

You bring the kind of intellectual curiosity, work ethic, and commercial instinct that makes experience accelerate faster than the calendar.

Background

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in investment analysis, financial modelling, consulting, or a high-performance operator role; finance, economics, business, or engineering background preferred.
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets — can build a model from scratch, not just read one.
  • Familiarity with Bangladesh's startup ecosystem is a strong advantage.

Operating Style

  • Earns founder trust quickly — direct without being blunt, respectful without being deferential.
  • Closes the loop without being chased — reliable, organised, and proactive.
  • Detail-obsessed without losing sight of what actually matters to an investment decision.

Craft & Curiosity

  • Clear, structured writer — able to distil a complex company into a sharp two-paragraph summary.
  • Eager to learn in public — asks questions, takes feedback, and improves visibly.
  • Genuinely curious about startups, technology, and markets — reads beyond what's assigned.

Language

  • Bengali proficiency essential for local market and founder engagement.
  • Strong English required for memos, research, and external communication.
