Bangladesh's national, bank-backed venture platform.

Bangladesh Startup Investment Company PLC (BSIC) is the country's national venture investment platform. Its inaugural vehicle — ONKUR, Bangladesh Fund I — is a USD 35 million pool of institutional capital from 39 commercial banks, launched in May 2026.

BSIC operates as a commercially governed investment institution with an independent Investment Committee, deploying alongside global venture capital firms into Bangladesh's most ambitious startups.

Sit at the centre of the deal process.

Associates at BSIC own the work that makes investment decisions possible. You will run due diligence, build financial models, draft IC memos, map markets, and engage directly with founders across fintech, healthtech, edtech, agritech, climate, SaaS and more.

Because Bangladesh's startup ecosystem is still developing, this role carries a responsibility beyond deal execution. You will help build the infrastructure around BSIC's portfolio — connecting founders, engaging ecosystem partners, and contributing to growth in ways that compound over time. The pipeline you build today depends on the ecosystem you invest in now.

High-ownership, high-exposure. Small, senior team. You will learn fast and contribute from day one.

Scope of the work.

01 — Deal Sourcing & Pipeline
  • Build and maintain BSIC's deal pipeline through outbound outreach, ecosystem mapping, accelerator relationships, and founder referrals.
  • Conduct thematic market research to generate investment hypotheses and identify emerging opportunities before they surface inbound.
  • Manage CRM discipline — track every conversation, flag warm leads, and ensure no deal falls through the cracks.
  • Represent BSIC at ecosystem events, demo days, and founder forums.
02 — Due Diligence & Analysis
  • Run the full diligence process — product deep-dives, customer and reference calls, competitive landscape mapping, regulatory assessment.
  • Build financial models: 3-statement operating models, revenue build-ups, unit economics, scenario planning.
  • Size markets rigorously — TAM/SAM/SOM frameworks anchored in data, not assumptions.
  • Evaluate founding team quality, product-market-fit signals, and business model sustainability with structured judgement.
03 — Memos & IC Preparation
  • Draft investment memos that translate complex founder narratives into clear, data-driven cases for the IC — covering opportunity, risks, valuation, and recommended terms.
  • Prepare supporting materials for IC presentations; anticipate committee questions and stress-test assumptions before the room.
  • Iterate on memos based on CIO and IC feedback; own the document through to decision.
04 — Portfolio Support
  • Maintain portfolio monitoring dashboards — track KPIs, milestones, and financial performance across active investments.
  • Support portfolio companies on follow-on fundraising processes, including benchmarking, investor outreach preparation, and materials review.
  • Assist with board and observer rights administration, including preparing updates and flagging covenant or performance issues early.
05 — Ecosystem Development
  • Build relationships with universities, incubators, accelerators, and student entrepreneurship programmes to develop early-stage deal flow.
  • Connect portfolio founders with mentors, co-investors, and relevant networks — acting as a deliberate bridge between BSIC's portfolio and the broader ecosystem.
  • Track gaps in the ecosystem and feed insights into BSIC's strategy; contribute to content and events that build BSIC's presence as a constructive voice in Bangladesh's innovation story.
06 — Growth & Development
  • Direct exposure to IC deliberations, co-investor relationships, and portfolio company boards.
  • Designed as a clear path to Senior Associate and, for the right person, Principal.
  • Structured mentorship from the CIO and the broader investment team.

Early in your career — but not early in your thinking.

You have strong analytical foundations, genuine curiosity about technology and markets, and the drive to do the work most people avoid.

Experience

  • 3+ years in investment banking, consulting, venture, or startup in a finance or strategy role.
  • Strong financial modelling — you can build from scratch, not just populate a template.
  • Familiarity with Bangladesh or South Asian startup ecosystems is a real advantage.

Approach

  • Earns founder trust quickly — direct without being blunt, respectful without being deferential.
  • Bias for ownership — you close the loop, follow up without being chased, and flag problems early.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity — BSIC is building its processes alongside you.

Craft

  • Clear, structured writer — investment memos require both precision and persuasion.
  • High attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • Commercially curious — you read about startups because you want to, not because you have to.

Language & Context

  • Bengali proficiency preferred for local founder engagement.
  • Strong English required for investor and co-investor communication.

Benchmarked to regional VC market standards.

Competitive base salary with performance-based incentives. BSIC is committed to building a team that is rewarded for the quality of its work and the long-term performance of the portfolio.

If you want to understand how great companies are built from the ground up — and help decide which ones get funded — this is your role.
